All applicants for migration to Australia must be of good character. For all migration applications, applicants over the age of 16 will be required to provide official police clearance certificates for each country in which you have lived for 12 months or longer during the last 10 years. You can find out how to obtain police clearance certificates for every country in the world by clicking here (adobe acrobat, 128Kb).
If you are applying under any of the Skilled Overseas Student visa categories, you must include with your application an Australian Federal Police (AFP) clearance with your application in order for it to be valid. Once the police clearance certificates (and medicals) have been received by DIMIA, a final decision on your application should be made within one to four months.
